The GeoMonster Ball is now less than a month away! There are all kinds of things planned for a full day or a weekend of caching fun including over 100 new caches, morning snacks and beverages, goodie bags, admission to an amazing museum for the Monster Ball, a dinner buffet, more indoor caching at the museum, trick or treating for the kids, snowcones, and chocolate!

As you might imagine, hosting large scale events require a great deal of planning. I’ve been working for the past six months to plan for enough volunteers, food, seating, and other amenities! I hope each and every one of you will be attending, because it’s going to be a blast! For those of you that haven’t yet registered and paid for your group, please take this opportunity to do so — completing registration by October 10 ensures food, seating, museum admission, and all the other goodies in store for you. You’ll be issued very cool Monster wristbands when you check in at the morning meet n’ greet which assures your “VIP” status throughout the day.

For those who wait until after October 10 to register, you may or may not receive all of the above. As you can imagine, I don’t want to invest in enough food and supplies for a huge crowd of “maybes” and then end up eating chili and nachos for the next year with all the leftovers! Pre-payment is a full confirmation that you will attend. In order to guarantee that you will share the full experience of everything the Monster Ball has to offer, please consider registering and paying in advance.

If you have friends who you know might be planning to attend, please consider forwarding this to them so they don’t risk disappointment. And if you’ve been planning to register but haven’t taken a few minutes to do so, please be sure you’ve registered by October 10 so you’ll be sure to “get your monster on!”

The official event Geocoin design is ready and in production! Be sure to get your order in now — only 200 of the regular coins will be minted and they’re sure to go fast. Order now and you’ll be able to purchase at a discounted price of just $10.00 (limit of three per person or caching team, please). Any remaining event coins will be sold at the event for $12.00.

The Limited Edition Geocoins are extra-special, featuring spooky glow in the dark eyeballs on the reverse (black) side of the coin. Only fifty of these were made, so a limit of one per person, please! Order now at a discounted price of just $12.00. Any remaining Limited Edition coins will be sold at the event for $15.00.

The Monster Workshop has been busy, and we’ve got the official event t-shirt design ready! You can place your order at the same time you register for the event here on the website — just $12.00 for adult and kid sizes. Congratulations to geocaching team HISdwelling of Sedro-Woolley for correctly guessing the answer to our first Mystery Identity: Bobby “Boris” Pickett, the writer and performer of the Halloween classic Monster Mash. HISdwelling won a free event geocoin for their correct answer! The next Mystery Identity will be posted soon, but this one will be more difficult to figure out.

Congratulations to DutchDuane for being the 100th cacher to register for the GeoMonster Ball! Duane is a Lynden resident and has been a geocacher since 2002. He’s hidden some great geocaches around Lynden, and we’re delighted that he’ll be attending the big event!

Duane’s registration puts the event at 20% of the way towards MEGA event status less than three weeks after the event was published at Geocaching.com
